Dolittle Looks Freaking Cute

Haters Come At Me

I mean, how charming does this film look?

I do feel we need more films that look and feel like this. We’re rammed with heavy art house films and stuffed with big, broad blockbusters. Sometimes we might just need to see Robert Downey Jr hanging out with a bunch of animals and talking to them like they’re his mates.

I’m happy for my guy RDJ – in this post-Iron Man world we’re living in I’m interested to see what he does next. While something like Dolittle might not have appeared to be the obvious next thing for him, it’s good he’s willing to take on completely different roles. The dude has bucket loads of charisma, so a role where he’s the titular character only makes sense and a film revolving around him seems like a winning formula.

I think this is gonna be a lot of fun. We see Dr Dolittle and Co. having to set sail on what is deemed a ‘perilous journey’. I don’t give a damn if this is for kids, I am seeing this movie when it comes out.

I mean look at these freaking animals! They look awesome and the CGI for them looks really impressive. The fact a tiger is the bad guy (or bad animal I guess?) is kind of cliché but I’m sure I’ll still be having nightmares when I watch this.

But I need to just make you all aware of these animals and their descriptions. We only hear the parrot and the tiger speak in this trailer but at the end we see that this is a star studded voicing cast. I went on to wikipedia to see which actor was voicing which animal and the descriptions for each killed me.

– Emma Thompson is voicing the parrot named Polynesia who is Dr Dolittle’s ‘most trusted advisor and confidante’.
– Rami Malek plays an ‘anxious gorilla’ called Chee-Chee
– John Cena will voice Yoshi, an ‘upbeat polar bear who wears a hat and bickers with Plimpton’.
– Plimpton is performed by Kumail Nanjiani who is a ‘cynical ostrich’.
– Tom Holland is Jip, a ‘dog who wears glasses’.

I mean come on, that shit is cute.
